I know, I know, you guys must think I’m crazy! I went on and on and on! about how I didn’t love everything about the Whole 30 when I did it in August, so I’m as surprised as you are that I’m going to undertake it again in January 2013!
I’d been kicking the idea around for a few weeks already, and then I saw that Holly over at Holly Would If She Could is doing it again too (we’d both done it in August.) She was so encouraging and upbeat about it that I couldn’t resist jumping in too. So I’m doing it. And oddly, I’m really looking forward to it! My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are doing it too, and I’m hoping to get Mr. Hungry on board as well. It’s going to be fun – and also miserable! Good times!
I do plan to do some things differently this time around though…
1) I’m going to read It Starts With Food to get in the proper mindset.
2) I’m going to plan the whole month’s worth of meals/blog posts in advance so that I don’t feel like my creativity is stifled by the strict rules of the plan (no paleo-fying pancakes, desserts, etc.) and I’ll have dishes I’m excited about working on/sharing with you for that month.
3) Rather than suffering in silence so as not to discourage the rest of you, I’m going to be annoyingly open about all of my struggles (and successes) – I think it’s more motivating and easier to relate to someone who is honest about their imperfections and frustrations, than someone who pretends that things are rosy and perfect all the time. If you find that kind of honesty discouraging, then you should probably avoid IBIH during the month of January! But I promise not to go all “Dear Diary” on you so don’t worry! ha ha! ;)
So that’s my basic plan for success this time around. I completed the program last time, but I wasn’t happy about it by the end. I hope that I will not only feel great physically (which I did when I finished the Whole 30 in August) this time around, but that I will also not have the frustration and bitterness towards the confines of the program that I felt last time. I have to remember that nobody is making me do this – I’m going in eyes wide open, and it’s my choice to do it. I have no one to blame but myself if I can’t suck it up, and maintain a positive attitude about it. It’s only 30 days and it’s SO WORTH how great you will feel by the end!!!!!!
Yesterday on FB I said I was doing it, and asked if any of you were “with me” and got an overwhelming YES from a lot of you! I’m super excited to do it together, and I’ll be posting lots of great resources and motivation throughout the month to hopefully keep us all on track. If you’ve been on the fence like I was, why not hop over and join us?!? It’s going to be great!
In other news, I do not plan on posting anything new in the coming week or two. I will be hard at work migrating IBIH over to the new and VASTLY IMPROVED WordPress site. I love the look and I think you’re going to be thrilled with how much easier to navigate it is! You’ll be able to print the recipes – Yay! Also they will be easy to find and browse in a portfolio style index, so you can see the pictures of each one. I don’t want to give everything away just yet, but I’m excited about it and I really hope that you guys will love it! I will post on Blogger one more time to announce the relaunch and say goodbye to the original IBIH forever. It’s a little sad honestly!
OK, lots of great stuff coming up for the 1st of the year! Now I have to go and work on the migration some more – have a great couple of weeks! I’ll still be checking and responding to comments and over at the FB page so let me know what you think, and if you’re IN for the Whole 30 in January! XOXO M-0
