I am well into my first day of the egg fast. Last night I prepped egg salad and some boiled eggs. Today I discovered that cheesestrings are godawful- wish I’d known before I bought two packets of them! I’d much prefer just a plain bit of cheddar so that’s what I’m going to sub in. The BPC was a very pleasant revelation this morning- couldn’t get mct so I’m using coconut oil. Also some myprotein flavdrops to sweeten. Hoping this kickstarts my weight loss- I have been struggling he past couple of years and no matter what plan or exercise, it takes colossal effort to see even a half pound difference. So I would be thrilled to see the scales finally move. I feel quite nauseated right before I eat (thinking about the fat content maybe?) but no puking so far!! Going to try the full 7 days and see how o fare. I presume green tea is ok on this? Had a cup of green tea with mint today. Needed something hot! I’ll update this for the next few days and hopefully it’ll be of some interest!

I just started today too. I am only planning on doing 3 days, but depending on how it goes, maybe I will do five. I’ve been doing Keto for about 2 months and have hit a plateau, so I am hoping this helps.
So far I’ve gotten my things in, I just need to eat my omelet dinner. I’m not a big fan of eggs, but surprisingly I haven’t minded them today. I’ve been feeling hungry, though. The water has not helped at all. I actually went and got a diet soda to help with it, which is NOT normal for me. I’m not even sure the last time I had a soda.

I also started the egg fast on the 6th!!!
so nice to have someone who is doing the same thing at the same time…
I am planning to do a 5 day fast (mon to fri), hoping to break a two month stall!!
yesterday was day one… had scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, and cream cheese pancakes… overall, not too bad, I would say… today is turning out to be somewhat worse… had the same breakfast as yesterday… and half an hour to lunch right now.. and I am STARVING!! :(
I am also planning to stop all coffee / tea / soda for the week… let’s see…
I have promissed myself to not weigh everyday… rather I will do it once on Sat morning!!

So great to have company on this! Just up on day 2 making my BPC. Slept fine (I usually do anyway) I didn’t like the sound of the buffalo omelette yesterday for dinner so I did a plain omelette in butter with 2oz cheese and stuck it under the grill then added 1tbsp Mayo when I took it out. Sounds weird but was really good! I thought I’d feel awful from all the fat but so far so good. It’s only been a day though!! I’m going to try get to Sunday on it if I can….we’ll see!! Best of luck!

Hi I also started on the 6th, I have been doing keto since September, i was losing slowly but now have not lost since before xmas, I am really hoping this egg fast will get me back on to a steady loss. So far so good Im not minding the menu at all, Im just following the plan, the Buffalo omlette was delicious. I was hungry the first day but not at all today I couldnt even finish my egg salad at lunch time so ate the rest at snack time. I will do the 5 days and see how im going. I will try to hold off weighing myself until Saturday morning.

I’m so happy we have a few people. I hadn’t seen posts for a long time, so was so happy alannajmc posted. Day 1 went okay. Starving shortly after breakfast yesterday, but half a can of diet cherry coke got me through the day. I wasn’t sluggish either so even ran 2 miles. Which is not that far, but I didn’t know how the day would go. No headaches until bedtime, but luckily didn’t prevent me from falling asleep. I had a mint tea that I blended with some butter at night and it got me past my dessert craving. I did have heartburn though at night too. I read some other people in the past too. Anyone else? I’m guessing maybe the hot sauce for dinner. I even got 12 cups of water in, I’m lucky to get in 6 usually. Had my coffee and eggs this morning. It’s 9:00 am here, Day 2. Didn’t mind eating the eggs again, but dreading the water lol.
Had my Weigh-in: Day 2 down 2.4 😍 Looking forward to the cinnamon crepes tonight!

Just dinner to go on day two- anyone else get really dry tired eyes? Not feeling hungry at all, which is amazing for me. No loss on the scales yet- I couldn’t resist hopping on! Going to try a leg session soon so hope my energy keeps up- tired and headachey today. So great to see others commenting here- thought I’d be talking to myself for the week!!

Day three started already here in Yangon!! reporting in afer breakfast of eggs, sunny side up…
So day two went by ok… eventually…
Was dying of hunger by dinner time yesterday (day 2), but managed to follow through… had a headache at night, so called it an early night and slept peacefully… however, still have a mild headache in the morning… just wanted to check with you guys if I am the only one experiencing this, or is it common? Also, how many of you guys are taking any suppliments (centrum, etc.)??
I am not taking any at the moment, and I believe that might be it… I am also avioding all coffee / tea / soda… doing a strict egg fast (or at least trying to do it…)
would be great to hear your take on that…
Despite the headache (for which I took a couple of aspirin in the morning), day three is not as bad as I would have thought… depending on how I feel by friday evening / saturday morning, I might extend this till sunday… Don’t think I should go beyond that in one go… what do you guys think?
Also, for the more experienced of you (if any), what is a good repeat cycle for the egg fast? I mean for instance is it really helpful to alternate between eg fast and regular keto on a weekly basis (one week egg, one week keto, repeat…)?? And secondly, as I was just wondering above, what is the maximum duration that one can do the egg fast for?
It is really really to have other people to help get through this… especially for a first timer like myself…
@alannajmc thank you so much for taking the initiative to get the ball rolling with this thread… it has really helped me get through day 2… which was not easy, trust me… and no, you won’t be talking to yourself… not if I have something to say about that… :P
@mrstau I am also (trying) not going to weigh myself till saturday… the daily swings can either really motivate me, or if not favorable, they tend to get me off the regime… so I really want to do this for at least 5 days before weighing…
@jeaners18 2 miles is a lot, if you’re a blob like yours truly… so don’t just dismiss it as “not that far”… you are my inspiration, and hopefully I will be posting here (quite proudly, if I may add) when I manage to run 2 miles!! anyways, good luck with the heartburn… I did not have any of that… but your headache is something that I can relate to… had it on night 2, and still have it on day 3 morning… and boy oh boy, you stole the words out of my mouth when you said it’s not the eggs that petrify me… it’s the water intake…
on that note guys, let me go chug some water down…
good luck everyone!!!

I made it through day 2, bedtime! The water was a struggle again, but I wasn’t so hungry today. I did get pretty hungry around 5:30 pm, so I made my dinner. I was worried it wouldn’t hold me over, because I usually eat around 7:30-8, but surprisingly it did. No heartburn tonight, so that’s good.
@alannajmc, my eyes felt so heavy today too, even though I slept good and woke up feeling great. I wonder if it is a side effect.
I’m still drinking my bullet coffee and taking suppliments that I take with the LCHF. I’m only doing 3 days then transitioning because I need to meet a friend I haven’t seen in a long time for dinner. I was thinking about the same though, maybe starting it again next week. Seeing if I could go a few days on and then a few days in LCHF. This is my first time though, so I don’t know if it would work. No headaches for me today, so maybe it’s the caffeine missing that’s doing it.

Hi all, this is great to hear how everyone is doing, it sounds like everyone is sticking to it really well. I am in day 3 and have had breakfast and lunch so far here in Western Australia. Im not feeling hungry at all and sleeping well, I do however feel quite tired during the day. I havent weighed myself as yet and still hoping to hold out till Saturday :-). I dont take any supplements and I have 2 cups of bullett coffee a day so that might keep the headaches at bay, I dont mind the water drinking, Im not doing any exercise a the moment due to been housebound with a sick grand child. I would also like to know about how often and how long you can do this egg fast as im finding it quite easy, I think it would get hard if i am cooking steak etc for my partner though :-(. Keep u the good work everyone and I looks forward to reading your progress :-)

Morning 3 here in Ireland and I’m having my bpc. Yesterday was a struggle- my parents called in for coffee and brought loads of biscuits (cookies) …I thought, man I’m gonna jack this whole thing in! I also had a hideous headache/sinus pain that ibuprofen wouldn’t touch. BUT I refrained from nice things, did my leg workout, and had my eggy/buttery/cheesy dinner lol. Scales says I’m down 3lbs this morning which is good incentive! I haven’t been to the bathroom at all despite magnesium tabs and lots of water. I’m definitely continuing to Sunday if I can- it’ll be really interesting to hear 3/5 day results and maintenance of you guys!

So glad everyone is doing well! Day 3 in the U.S. @4:30 p.m. I’m finding this pretty simple, but I have been working from home the past two days. So there is no work temptation treats. It sounds terrible, but I wish I could cancel with my friend tomorrow night, so I could do the full five days. I would reschedule, but it has been a long time since seeing her. Today has been well. No headaches and doing pretty well on my water. I had a second bullet coffee, although only with the butter to give it some froth. I haven’t had my boiled eggs snack yet, so I should probably do that soon, so I have a break before dinner.
3.4 pounds down today. I did a 30 min low-impact core workout yesterday. Hoping to get something in tonight too.
- February 9, 2017 at 2:34 am #13408
Could you maybe just meet her for a cinema date or drinks instead? Or pick the lowest carb thing on the menu and then continue the fast tomorrow? It’s a hard diet to fit around “real life”- I have an exact 7 day window where there’s nothing on and my boyfriend is away.
Having said that, I’m really not finding this easy going into day 4. I’m EXHAUSTED. Went to bed at 7pm yesterday. The house is a mess because I haven’t had energy to clean! I’m slow and stupid in work. I’m sticking to the IBIH plan (just swapping round some foods on different days) and I keep waiting for the euphoric energy. It ain’t coming! (And neither is a visit to the bathroom)
I’m not trying to be totally negative- had the snickerdoodle pancakes for dinner yesterday and they were really nice. I’m also down another 2lbs this morning. It definitely works, and organisation-wise/price-wise it’s a very easy and straightforward diet. I am going to soldier on to day 7 (mostly out of curiosity- I’ve lost one stinking pound since Christmas so I’m delighted to see the scales moving) and hope that my energy picks up in the next couple of days!
- February 9, 2017 at 12:42 pm #13410
She wanted to come to the city for a specific restaurant, so that wouldn’t have been an option. However, she wasn’t feeling well, so we rescheduled for Sunday. Which is good, because I’ll be in maintenance. I already picked things that are low-carb for me to get on the menu. I was excited I could do it the full 5 days (plus the two maintenance day), until this morning when I thought…ugh. Do I want fried or scrambled eggs today? The rest of the day shouldn’t be too bad, though. I’m about to have the crepes for lunch and the custard tonight.
I’m the same way, I lost a few pounds since Christmas, but gained those few back. Which is dishearting, because I’ve been sticking to my eating plan. My doctor has me on the Modified Atkins, which is why I haven’t tried a new approach, but this seemed to fit into it well. I want to make it to day 7 too, because I’ve gone down 4.8 pounds. So hopefully that will stay off (or most) after day 7 too.
I’m sorry to hear about your tiredness. Luckily, I haven’t been too bad, but I think it has helped I’ve done about 20 minutes of low impact exercise. Also, these past two days I’ve had 2 coffees. I have been ready for bed a lot earlier. Maybe turn up some music and try to start cleaning? That might get you in the mood.

starting the egg fast tomorrow and looking forward to it! Did a dry run for two days last week so im ready to roll!! so excited!

Welcome carolsco. You will do great!
- February 10, 2017 at 3:35 am #13414
Welcome and the best of luck!! Day 5 for me here. I have truly hit the egg wall lol! Had to take a senna tablet last night which thankfully worked today. 5.5lbs down. I’m so glad it’s coming into the weekend so I’m not trying to function in work!! I would imagine im experiencing a mild “keto flu”- I wasn’t in ketosis before starting. It would have been smart to cut carbs the Saturday and Sunday before starting. Clever idea up there about doing a dry run! I’m bringing a Diet Coke to work today just to get myself through lol. I know very well it’s not ideal, egg fast or not, but I’m struggling as I enter the home stretch!!
Going to make locarbyum’s oopsie rolls this evening or tomorrow just for something different- I know everyone raves about it but I can’t face the fettuccini! Can’t wait to see how they turn out. I didn’t make the custard either. I find I’ve been more able to stomach plainer egg meals for some reason.
How is everyone planning to maintain? I was thinking of keeping breakfasts and lunches the same (maybe add some salad) and then some carbs with dinner? I’d love to hear any other suggestions!
It’s Friday, hooray!!!!
- February 10, 2017 at 9:58 am #13415
@alannajmc Great job on the weight loss and sticking to it! I was already in ketosis, so I think that helped. I hear you on the eggs. I was thinking this morning, maybe I could skip breakfast just to avoid them. Then, I thought about how it says you should have at least one egg within an hour. So I jumped on the scale and was 5.8 pounds down and…I’m at my lowest weight in 3 years! So, that gave me enough motivation to fry up two eggs. I meant to scramble them, but left them too long. So the scramble turned into a large flat egg. I put a slice of cheese on it and rolled it up into a burrito and that did the trick. Plus, it ended up being good and giving me some variety. I’m starting my maintenance today (my SO and I were going to go out to a nice dinner tomorrow, but it was changed to tonight). I’m going to do 2 egg meals and low carb meal at night. I hope the weight stays off! I’ll check-in and let you guys know. On the egg fast it says 6-10 eggs a day. I wonder if I should still try to get in 6 eggs or cut it down to 4. I’ve been averaging 8. Thoughts?

Hi day 6 for me today, well done to you all on your great weight loss I only managed 2 kilos which is 4.4lbs which im happy with as i struggle so much to lose weight. I didnt mind the egg fast at all and i might keep to the breakfast and lunch and do a light low carb dinner for 2 weeks and then do the fast again and see how I go. I think i definatley need to up my exercise i think that is what is slowing me down. Welcome and good luck for your egg fast Carolsco :-)
- February 12, 2017 at 10:36 am #13417
This is day 7 for me, that’s including my Fri and Sat that were my maintenance. I gained a little over 1 pound back, which I read is common. Even with that, I’m down an even 5 pds. So I’m happy with that. I’ll probably do it again soon. Meals were easy to put together and I liked that.
- April 10, 2017 at 3:26 pm #13905
I was so happy to find all this great information! I just started my egg fast today. I have been doing low carb, but not really trying to get into ketosis until now. I’ve been doing this for a little over a month and I am down 10 pounds so far. I’m hoping the egg fast will help reset me a bit, as the weight loss per week has slowed down. I have also finally invested in some keto sticks.
