I started the egg fast on 06/05/2017, currently on day 5! As of this morning, I am down 9.5 lbs!!!!!! I am going to follow the rest of the menu plan and I will be doing the 3 day keto kick start next Monday to hopefully avoid gaining any weight back! The menu plan and recipes have been a life saver. I am so glad I did this….and I still love eggs :)
- June 10, 2017 at 11:44 pm #14269
Here’s something to use up all the eggs the ladies are presenting us with, and been stalled for weeks now. I’ll give it a shot.
- June 11, 2017 at 9:36 am #14276
If by ladies you mean chickens then I’m super jealous! The egg fast is great for breaking through stalls – I’ll be interested to see how you do, please keep us posted on your progress!
- June 11, 2017 at 3:10 am #14270
I am a new to LCHF but I am tempted to start the diet tomorrow because of the summer.
I have a question – are we allowed to add mayonnaise to eggs? This is nearly the only way I eat my eggs ;-) could someone please tell me.
@carriecivy, may I ask what is your starting weight etc to get such a good result of 9.5lbs a week? :) thanks
- June 11, 2017 at 9:36 am #14275
Yes to mayo! Just make sure it’s real mayonnaise and preferably no sugar added. Dukes is my favorite but you can’t get it everywhere. Hellman’s is ok too but I think they have a little sugar. No miracle whip or salad dressing types though! Keep us posted!
- June 11, 2017 at 10:14 am #14301
I believe I will start the egg fast. Can’t hurt, right? I’ve been eating keto for about 5 months now, but am on my second extended plateau. I’m hoping this will help to get me moving again!
I must admit that I have started this morning already, so today will be my Day 1.
- June 11, 2017 at 11:31 am #14343
Awesome! You’ll be a day ahead of everyone else so it will be inspiring for others doing the challenge to hear how you’re progressing! Keep us posted!
- June 11, 2017 at 12:11 pm #14346
I will! Breakfast & snack done already. Will be getting my egg salad for my lunch soon. I do have a question though. The recipe for egg salad shows the serving size as 1/3 cup. The Egg Fast breakdown of meals shows to eat 1/2 cup. Which is correct? (I know this is not a big difference between the two, just curious why the two different amounts?)
Thank you in advance!
- June 12, 2017 at 8:39 am #14363
The egg salad recipe was posted long before the egg fast and was served with romaine lettuce leaves and bacon, so it was assumed you’d be eating less of the actual egg salad portion for a meal. But since the Egg Fast is so restrictive and the egg salad is a large part of the meal itself, I called for a larger serving – but you can eat less of it or more of it depending on your hunger level while egg fasting!
- June 12, 2017 at 12:23 pm #14384
That makes perfect sense. Thank you!
- June 20, 2017 at 4:06 am #14596
Hi Melissa! I started the egg fast today as soon as I found the info actually, and today all I’ve had was 2 eggs with butter and cheese, then I’ve not been hungry until this evening, though not really either. I made your egg salad – omg delicious! – and started eating some but then found I nearly ate it all it’s so good! Considering I’ve not eaten my quota today anyway is that super bad? Thanks!
- June 12, 2017 at 12:24 pm #14385
This morning I had 0.6 loss. I’m happy with that for starters! :)
- June 12, 2017 at 1:59 pm #14389
This bodes well for you – hopefully you’ll see an even bigger drop in the next few days!
- June 13, 2017 at 10:04 am #14408
Well, this is the beginning of Day 3 for me. I had the menu items for Day 2 (snickerdoodle crepes for dinner).
I weighed in the exact same … 0.6 loss total for 2 days.
I’m hoping the loss will pick up for me for the last 3 days. It hasn’t been an unpleasant experience by any means. I’m just hoping that I’ll have some weight loss. :-/
- June 11, 2017 at 10:14 am #14302
I’m in for 6/12/17….first time egg fast, cant wait!
- June 11, 2017 at 11:32 am #14344
Excited for you Erin! Keep us posted!!!
- June 11, 2017 at 10:49 am #14340
Hi everyone! I’m Cathy, I’ve done Keto on and off now for about 5yrs, but this yr really focusing in on more the LCHF-Paleo version which I totally love b/c it has worked best to keep off my weight and I don’t feel hungry or like I’m eating just meat all the time, lol! anyhoo..its been now about 1 1/2 months I have been slacking, to say the least, one day on one day off, and so on..we all know how that goes, I have subscribed you in my FB feeds so I seen your doing this Challenge I’m giving it a go I think to jumpstart me back into my nutrition! Normally just fasting a couple of days…will do the trick but it hasn’t worked either, so I’m always up for a challenge, it pushes me to stick to it! so thanks, I’m in not sure how this will go or where I need to post my daily progress.. I’ll check back in later today to this blog..this is new to me so I plan to do some shopping this evening probably try to follow your menu plan, I have eggs already..
- June 11, 2017 at 11:30 am #14342
Welcome Cathy! You can post your questions or progress here in this thread or if we get a lot of people we may start a separate progress topic within the thread! Looking forward to hearing how you do!
- June 11, 2017 at 5:24 pm #14347
Hi Everyone, I am Bec and I am in Brisbane Australia. I have started the eggfast this morning. I have been eating LCHF for about 3 months and I thought this would help break a bit of a stall. I enjoyed my BPC on the way to work this morning and I have just finished my scrambled eggs with butter. Very tasty!!
Good Luck everyone.
- June 11, 2017 at 6:19 pm #14356
Let us know how it goes!
- June 11, 2017 at 7:16 pm #14360
Hi everyone! I’m Carnie and I’ve been keto for second time for a few months. I’ve been wanting to do a real egg fast so I’m excited to start with some of you tomorrow! We live in the country and have 9 chickens so this will help me eat up some!
- June 12, 2017 at 8:42 am #14367
Super jelly of your chickens Carnie! When we lived in South Carolina our friends had a farm with some chickens and they used to give us fresh eggs every week. Hand’s down the BEST eggs I’ve ever eaten, and no doubt so much healthier than store bought! Let us know how you do!
- June 12, 2017 at 6:38 am #14361
Day 1 down! I found today pretty easy. I did bootcamp tonight and burnt 600 calories. After bootcamp I was suprised to find that i wasn’t hungry but i cooked up the buffalo omelet anyway. So glad I did. It was delicious! How did everyone else go today?
- June 12, 2017 at 8:43 am #14368
Hopefully every day is as easy as the first for you! My first egg fast I had tons of energy and wasn’t very hungry either, then around day four I was ravenous and ate more eggs and cheese than any other day – the next morning was also my biggest loss at around 2.5lbs! Crazy how that works! Keep us posted on your progress!
- June 12, 2017 at 12:27 pm #14386
That’s awesome! I didn’t do a bootcamp, but did do the buffalo omelet. It was very tasty! :)
- June 12, 2017 at 8:31 am #14362
I’m in on this and hope to do well!
Got my BPC down already, next are my eggs.
I’m going to follow the menu plan as closely as possible, but I’m sure I’ll substitute some meals because I don’t have the ingredients for that caramel thing, so I’ll just have an omelette or crepes.
Does anyone have problems with snacking after supper? That’s my main downfall, and I still don’t know how I’m going to handle that during this egg fast.
- June 12, 2017 at 8:46 am #14369
Welcome Wendy! I found on the egg fast that I didn’t crave snacks, but there were a few times that I was legitimately hungry around 7 or 8pm. 1/2 of a hardboiled egg with some butter or mayo was enough to get me through it – and it filled me up but didn’t make me want to overeat like snacks do. Just try to find a way to keep yourself busy through the craving and you’ll see the rewards on the scale if you keep at it!
- June 12, 2017 at 10:33 am #14379
Day 1 for me and first egg fast ever!
- June 12, 2017 at 1:59 pm #14390
I’m excited for you Nessa!
- June 12, 2017 at 11:10 am #14380
I’m game! I will do day 1 tomorrow because I just got the notice from Mellissa (thank you Mellissa!).
Currently I am feeling super discouraged with my weight and my ability to get it off. I’m going to be 45 soon, and it is crazy how hard the weight comes off and how easily it comes back on. I am at my heaviest, and seriously I feel like I have no idea how to eat. I used to drop weight easily.
I need to go out and look for success stories from older folks! And keep telling myself it’s possible, one day at a time.
- June 12, 2017 at 1:58 pm #14388
I’m glad you came over Molly! I feel your pain! I’m turning 44 this summer and I have definitely seen a difference in how easy it is to gain, and how hard it is to lose – even on keto. I will be on the edge of my seat to see how your egg fast goes – maybe this will jumpstart you! If you find any inspiring weight loss stories from “older” women like us please do share! I know you and I aren’t the only ones in this boat!
- June 14, 2017 at 3:38 pm #14453
Thanks for the encouragement Mellissa!
- June 12, 2017 at 11:43 am #14381
I have been doing Low-carb but not Keto as I haven’t been doing the macros. I lost 13 pounds the first month. I have stalled completely the 2nd month. I am going to try the egg fast (started today)
I am not a huge egg fan, so this is going to be interesting. I will be making recipes to keep from having to eat just scrambled eggs.
- June 12, 2017 at 12:08 pm #14382
I keep seeing things about the bullet proof coffee. If you don’t like coffee, is there another option? Can I just eat the butter by itself? I like butter :)
- June 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm #14391
The coffee is optional – you can also make bulletproof tea if you like! But if you don’t need a breakfast drink to get you going then just do the 1 to 1 ratio of fat (mmm…butter) to egg and you’ll be fine!
- June 12, 2017 at 2:31 pm #14394
I do bulletproof hot chocolate, hope that doesnt stall me…I hate coffee!
- June 12, 2017 at 2:19 pm #14392
Hi, I started a five day egg fast yesterday. So far, this is my favorite website to get information/recipes.
Thank you for sharing!
- June 12, 2017 at 2:30 pm #14393
I know I’m not supposed to be concerned about calories, but that buffalo omelette is over 600 calories! I think I’ll just do 1/2 of one at a time :D
- June 13, 2017 at 1:02 am #14398
I started the egg fast Sunday morning. By the end of the day it was definitely tough getting down the last egg. Today was much easier. I had no issues. I felt full st all times between the meals cheese snack and water. I really hope I do end up losing from this and if I do, I hope I don’t gain it all back. What is the probably of gaining it all back? Or do most people just gain some? Thanks.
- June 13, 2017 at 8:14 am #14399
Well, that buffalo omelette was SO good that I ended up eating all of it!! Total calories for the day was around 1600…. and I’m down 1 pound already! Yippee!
Joybrat36… as far as gaining it all back, I’d say it depends on what you do AFTER the egg fast. If you go back to bad eating habits, yes, the weight will come back; however, if you continue to eat low carb/moderate fat and protein, you should either continue to lose or stay the same.
I hope I am able to continue losing after this by making better choices than I have been recently. I’ve got 20 pounds to go, and I know I’ll get there eventually!
- June 13, 2017 at 8:19 am #14401
I’m with Wendy, Joy – it depends on how you transition and what you do in the weeks following the egg fast! I’ve had some people not gain even an ounce back but just keep losing after going back to keto, some (including me) gain back just a small percentage and then evened out with a 75% or more total loss retained. You’ll have to let us know how you do!
And Wendy, congrats on one pound already! Between 1600 – 1800 calories a day is perfect for the egg fast, you don’t want to go too low or you can hurt your progress – I know it’s counterintuitive but it seems to work that way for me every time!
- June 13, 2017 at 8:56 am #14403
Thanks, Melissa. After 2 years of between 800-1000 calories per day, 1600-1800 seems SO MUCH! LOL! However, doing lowcarb successfully almost 10 years ago and losing 40 pounds in 4 months makes me KNOW that with this kind of eating, calories aren’t THAT important….yet!
- June 13, 2017 at 6:57 pm #14431
This plan is a great way to test the calories in calories out theory then – I always lose more on EF when I’m not restricting calories and just eat when I’m hungry and others have reported the same! But there are probably eggceptions to the rule! (sorry, had to lol!)
- June 13, 2017 at 9:43 am #14404
Today I started day 3 of Egg Fast, so far 4 lbs down and not looking to get them back. Definitely, last night I have to force the eggs, lol.
Best wishes and be blessed!
PS Glucose levels are coming normal since over few weeks ago
- June 13, 2017 at 9:49 am #14407
Day one wasn’t horrible. LOL Eggs are sometimes hard for me to get down. I did 2 scrambled yesterday morning. Lunch was the Fettucini Alfredo (I might eat it every day!) I made the salted caramel custard last night for today. I had one serving for breakfast. I think next time I will make it with vanilla and not caramel. Last night, my husband came in with fresh caught fish. I stopped to help him get it prepare where he could have it for dinner. We used almond and coconut flour with seasonings and fried it in coconut oil. He ate it. I didn’t. I finished the day with scrambled eggs again.
I weighed and was down a little over a pound (which is still up from where where I was a couple of weeks ago) I have been bouncing back and forth 3 pounds over the last few weeks.
Day 2 started at 6:10 with bullet proof tea. Not bad at all. I think I need more spice in it, but it was a good start. Next up was the custard.
Hope everyone has an eggselent day :)
- June 13, 2017 at 6:49 pm #14428
Ha ha – bonus points for eggcellent! And nice job avoiding fresh caught fish – that would be a tough one for me but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end! Let us know how the custard turns out vanilla flavored – I can’t imagine it would be a bad thing! Onward!
- June 13, 2017 at 2:48 pm #14422
Today has been eggselent so far (that’s for you, braladypam!). Right now I am hungry and forgot to pack a snack, but I will be leaving in less than 2 hours and I can make it.
Hope all is well with you all. I start at the gym tomorrow. I have 1 week until I turn 45. 7 weeks until I go on a trip to visit family on the West Coats. Yikes. I’ve been trying to lose weight this past month, it’s come off and come back on about 2 or 3 times.
Somehow I have to figure out the changes I need to make that will make a difference.
- June 13, 2017 at 2:51 pm #14423
I thought I should add that the weight that has been off and on this past month has been 1-3 pounds. It’s very frustrating. The middle age thing is real.
- June 13, 2017 at 6:53 pm #14429
You’ll get there Molly! Keep us posted!
- June 13, 2017 at 4:06 pm #14424
Luz, wow, 4 pounds is awesome!
braladypam, way to hold out and not eat the fish! That sounds like a great low carb meal for after the egg fast! And a pound is a pound, can’t wait to hear about your progress!
- June 13, 2017 at 4:17 pm #14425
Thank you! Never expected to lose that many. I am looking forward to lose three more pounds by the end of the 5 days. I guess, it is the 100 ounces of water I have been drinking since a started.
Best wishes to you, don’t give up!
- June 13, 2017 at 4:49 pm #14426
Good Morning everyone…….Well its morning in OZ. I am ready to take on Day 3. How Yum are the snickerdoodle crepes. AMAZING!!!! I am down 600g I think that is just over a pound??
I noticed that the snickerdoodle crepes are on the menu for lunch again tomorrow. I have a fry pan at work but no blender. If I make up the mix tonight do you think it will keep until tomorrow lunch???
Also how do I change my Avatar? Mine is a little scary / cranky looking! Although maybe after a week of eggs I might feel that way.
It sounds like everyone is doing really Well!! Keep egging on everyone :)
- June 13, 2017 at 4:58 pm #14427
scratch the avator question. I worked it out. I was trying to do it on my phone before but I worked it our on the computer :)
- June 13, 2017 at 6:56 pm #14430
Definitely less cranky than the avatar ha ha! You can make the crepes ahead and then defrost them in the microwave for 15 seconds if you have one – then just add the cinnamon mix and butter warm. Or if it’s easier for you the batter will keep fine for a day or two and you can cook the crepes fresh to order.
- June 14, 2017 at 11:46 pm #14461
thanks Mellissa, Do you have a recipe for Blue Cheese Dressing?
I haven’t been able to find any in an Australian supermarket.
- June 14, 2017 at 9:02 am #14436
So, last night I let my cravings get the best of me and ate some potato chips after dinner :( However, I am not going to let that deter me. Today is a new day, and I plan on keeping on track! (There are no longer any chips in the house to tempt me, LOL!!)
I am not going to weigh until the end of the week, because weighing every day can get addicting and depressing sometimes. Weekly weigh-ins work better for me. If I only lose 3-4 pounds after doing this, I will consider it a success!
I’m not minding all the eggs, but I sure am looking forward to a nice salad this weekend!
Hope everyone is doing good!
- June 14, 2017 at 3:30 pm #14452
Great job! Done give up.
- June 14, 2017 at 10:44 am #14438
I’m day 3 of egg fast and I’m loving it! However… I’ve noticed some GI upset yesterday and some this morning. Is this normal???
- June 14, 2017 at 12:36 pm #14439
2 days down! I can do this. I am now 3 pounds down! I am actually .4 below where I was at the lowest on the 3 pounds up and down I had been doing. I wasn’t hungry yesterday. I had the bullet proof tea yesterday and today. I only got in 80 oz of water yesterday. My fitness pal doesn’t like my macros.
- June 14, 2017 at 3:30 pm #14451
Ok after day 3 I’m down 3 pounds. I feel great and I can feel the difference in the tighter pants I own. So far I’m not tired of eggs. Started day 4 off today hoping I’ll be down more tomorrow. I really appreciate seeing what everyone else is going thru and all their thoughts!! I will post my 7 day progress soon!!!! I’m half way there. :-)
- June 14, 2017 at 3:50 pm #14455
I feel like today was a big victory for me- I’ve started tracking again on My Fitness Pal, and I also went to the gym for the first time in forever.
Tracking is key- I knew it before- but starting it can be tough. I had a tough time starting. But now that I have started, I feel a sense of control and power that I didn’t have before. And being active is helping me build my confidence again. I’m grateful for that.
And I can’t remember who said it- but I also am going to (try to) only weigh once a week because if I have any kind of upward change in the scale my response is to get down on myself and question if I can do this. Actually I think I will need to hide my scale.
Wishing all of you your own successes as well!
- June 14, 2017 at 8:22 pm #14456
Braladypam and joybrat congratulations on losing 3 pounds, that’s awesome and clothes fitting better is so rewarding! I’m sure you’ll have continued success, can’t wait to hear everyones end results!
Molly27, sometimes an unhealthy relationship with the scale can do more damage than good, once a week is a good number! Congratulations on starting tracking and getting active!
- June 15, 2017 at 3:40 pm #14501
Thanks for the encouraging words, Stacey. :)
- June 14, 2017 at 8:32 pm #14458
mommom22, some GI problems are normal, a lot depends on if you were doing keto before you started or not… it’s a lot of fat if you’re not used to it. Also some people have issues with bulletproof coffee if they’re new to that
- June 14, 2017 at 8:50 pm #14459
Stacey Polke, Thank You! This way of eating is horrible(said no one ever!) as I eat my Snickerdoodle crepes I’m in love with! 😁
- June 14, 2017 at 8:59 pm #14460
I am hungry today. I have been fine until today. My scales didn’t move this morning. I am not weighing in until the end of the fast now. I don’t want to get discouraged.
I am really glad I did this even if it is just for trying new recipes that I wouldn’t have normally tried. I cant wait for snickerdoodle crepes for lunch!!!!!
- June 15, 2017 at 7:21 am #14462
WOOP! Down 5 pounds this morning!! I have not been this low in well over a year. A little background: I had lost 90 pounds in 2013-2014. I did another program that was not very maintainable for me as my ‘coach’ got mad at me for not wanting to be thinner than a size 4. She refused to coach me through maintenance. 2015-2016 I slowly gained about 60 of that back. Now, I am on my back down. This time has been really hard. That was the 3rd time I had lost 90 pounds plus. I think my body doesn’t want to go through the stress again of losing and gaining. I had lost 13 but was fluctuating between 10-13 pounds loss. I had been there for 4 weeks. This was exactly what I needed to kick start me into losing. So thankful I found it!
- June 15, 2017 at 12:34 pm #14471
Good Afternoon Everyone!
Well, today is my day 5 of the fast. Yesterday wasn’t a good day because I wasn’t home to followed it by the hours/meals.
I am back on track today and I will be following two days transition hoping to make-up for yesterday.
Then back to Keto but this time I will like to go Dairy-free Keto. Any suggestions?
Also, how often can this fast be done?
Have a Blessed Day!
- June 15, 2017 at 3:47 pm #14502
Today was interesting- I didn’t eat lunch until around 3. Unplanned! Just a crazy busy day. But here is the interesting part- I wasn’t starving to death. I was fine. And then I ate, and I didn’t feel like I had to cram food in. I was fine. It was just normal.
Basically, I am just feeling good. Low carb is good for me in so many ways, one of the most important (I am beginning to understand) is my mental health. Another is my energy level. And then, what I experienced above, it helps me have control over food. As opposed to being a slave to food and always wanting to know what I will eat next.
FYI- I have already adjusted to low carb, gone through the “carb flu” etc. So if there are any newbies out there thinking “I don’t feel like that”- I didn’t at first either. The adjustment can be tough, but it is worth it.
- June 15, 2017 at 6:48 pm #14503
I wish protein and/or eggs and fat filled me up like it does some of you. It makes me sad that I am just so hungry all the time. But this is day 4, and I’ve been doing ok. I haven’t had the proper food at home for an evening snack, so I ended up eating things I shouldn’t, but I finally picked up some string cheese for the house (I had a package at work), so I should be good now.
I’ll get on the scale tomorrow morning I guess just to see where I stand.
- June 15, 2017 at 7:06 pm #14505
Way to hang in there Wendy! You can eat extra eggs if you’re really hungry – though I know that probably is the last thing you want to hear lol! Hope you still had some weight lost to show for your struggle! Let us know!
- June 16, 2017 at 1:56 pm #14514
I am new to this type of eating, but decided to give it a try with a friend. I’m on day 5 of the egg fast, and so far, I’m down 5lbs! This is amazing, as I do not lose weight easily, if at all! I’m going to try the keto-soup diet next week, and then go for a keto diet all the way. The recipes on this site are making me think I can pull this off. Most diets are all salad, salad, salad…and I’m not a veggie lover. Cutting calories just makes me hungrier. This week, however, on the egg fast, I’ve had NO sugar cravings (after day 1 or so) and I’ve not been hungry!
Thank you Mellissa for your wonderful recipes. I’m so glad I found your site!
- June 16, 2017 at 2:55 pm #14515
Yay for dessert lunches! Congratulations on day 5 everyone! Some of you are having great results! 5 pounds in 5 days is awesome, especially if you typically have trouble losing weight! Don’t forget to make sure you have everything you need for the 2 transition days since it will help you easy back into foods that aren’t just…eggs!
Speaking of… How are you feeling about eggs… love? Hate the sight of?
- June 16, 2017 at 3:42 pm #14517
This is my 1st day of transition looking to a Dairy Free Keto Diet. I lost between 8 – 10 lbs. My digital scale is not reading accurately.
Accordingly to two doctors appointments, 1st appt. I was on 148lbs and yesterday 2nd I was on 138lbs .
Very pleased with the results. Clothes is fitting better. I need to lose 10lbs extra pounds and I would like to know how soon can I repeat the Egg Fast. I still like eggs and thanks to this website there are many options on how to cook them.
- June 16, 2017 at 3:54 pm #14519
luz, those are amazing results!! You can repeat the egg fast as often as you can stand, every other week is reasonable. For in between, feel free to check out I Breathe I’m Hungrys weekly meal plans.
Some recipes on the website are already dairy free or can be adapted to be dairy free.
- June 16, 2017 at 5:24 pm #14520
I’m totally loving this egg fast! I’m excited about all the new recipes I’ve discovered, especially the crepes/cream cheese pancakes! I’m looking forward to trying them without sweetener for a wrap/bread in the upcoming weeks.
Those of you who are seasoned to this… With Father’s Day coming up as well as my birthday this weekend. My family plans on going out to eat. How should I navigate this? I’m on day 5 of the egg fast. The restaurant we plan on going to as keto friendly meals. I’ve been doing keto/LCHF for almost a year so I’m aware of what to eat just don’t know how to navigate this coming off of egg fast. TYIA

mommom22, it definitely makes things harder when holidays/celebrations come up! But the closer you stick to the diet the better your chances are of keeping the weight you just lost off. Try to stick to the diet as much as you can throughout the day and maybe they have something at the restaurant that’s similar to the transition dinners?
Also, don’t be afraid to ask them to modify things for you, most restaurants are surprisingly accommodating- they are getting used to people having dietary restrictions!

I feel good! I am not sure how much I lost because my scale is malfunctioning. I have lost at least 4 pounds, or it could be 6 pounds. Either way I am pretty happy! I’m wondering about getting a new scale. Seems an awful thing to have to buy. LOL

I am happy to report that I lost 6.5 pounds! Due to the craziness of life the next day, I didn’t’t transition as I should. I had a popup of a couple of pounds the next day, but was back about 1/2 pound lower today! I really hope this was what I needed to help me get the scale moving in the right direction.

First day on this egg fast and first time trying the bulletproof coffee. I’m reading you shouldn’t have it with a meal… should I space out the scrambled eggs or what’s the reason it’s okay to eat it together?

I just suggested the egg fast to you in another (oops) I guess you are already doing it! Reading how discouraged you were before, even bigger congratulations on the weight loss! Your hard work paid off!
that’s awesome! Things always seem to come up and ruin our best intentions, such is life! way to keep rolling with it, hopefully it’s what you needed and the numbers will continue to drop! If you’re looking for where to go next there are great meal plans available here!

Stacey, No worries! I’ll just reply here- not at both places. I appreciate your intent. :) I am happy with my loss, and it is good to have intentional work pay off.
AND I do need a new scale. The one I have- I moved it, and my weight changed (increase, of course). When I moved it back to the old spot, it showed the loss. This shows that it is not reliable, and I have to fight my negative self-talk about the apparent increase. I need to focus on the fact that I feel physical changes, smaller tummy, clothes are feeling looser, etc. My mind is my biggest obstacle!
<3 to all-

Sorry I missed this earlier but great job! I have had the SAME issue with the scale and it drives me crazy – depending on where on the floor I put it I get wildly different numbers and it can affect my entire day if I’m up and I’ve been working hard and not cheating. I think your strategy of paying closer attention to how you feel and how your clothes fit is a good one, I’m trying to do the same thing!
- June 21, 2017 at 9:22 pm #14654
yes! You definitely need a new more accurate scale! I’ve gone through periods of having an unhealthy relationship with my scale…bad number in the morning…might as well eat bad that day! Clothes and the way your body feel is a much better, less discouraging indicator.
As far as weighing in, I’ve heard and try to follow once a week, maybe once every 2 weeks on the say day at the same time, just to keep an eye that the weight doesn’t creep on!
Best wishes and continued success!

I’m in my 4th week of Keto and I’m loving my results so far. I started the egg fast yesterday and I’m down 1.5lb this morning! Love! 😍😎😁

I’m on day 3 of an egg fast, & planning to taper over the weekend because of some special get-togethers that might make eggs pretty tough to stick to – I’m in week 3 of lchf eating, lost 5 pounds the first week then … goose egg. 😕 I believe I’m so carb-sensitive that anything over 20-net & even a small qty of artificial sweeteners are stalling me! 😰 So, I decided to egg-fast to kick my sorry system into gear. I’ll weigh in tomorrow morning for the week. FINGERS CROSSED! 🤞🏻

I’ve lost about 65#s over the last almost 3 years, at first mainly by moving to the city from the suburbs and walking more, and cutting back on carbs. I bought Eat Fat, Get Thin about a year and a 1/2 ago, but I wasn’t doing a strict keto diet. I started intermittent fasting about 6 months ago, in the last calendar year I’ve lost 33#s.
I have a really bad habit of OD’ing on carbs over the weekend, especially on things that contain gluten, and I seem to be at least somewhat intolerant of gluten :-( I ended up gaining 2.2#s after eating some nasty things on Saturday.
I’d planned to start the egg fast Sunday morning, but had some leftovers that I finished for breakfast and lunch and started the egg fast with scrambled eggs for dinner on Sunday. After just that 1 meal, I’d already lost 1.2# of my carb binge, this morning after my 1st full day, I am down another 2#s for a net loss of 1#. I’ve been stuck in about a 5# range for a few months now, so hoping to end the year at my lowest weight of the year. If I can lose 4#s and keep it off, it will be the least I’ve weighed since 2005!
So far, I’ve just had hard boiled eggs with mayo and a side of cheese for lunch, cheese as snacks, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Looking forward to trying the snickerdoodle crepes and fettuccini alfredo recipes.

I am new to this site but I love it. I am going to start an egg fast on Jan 3 to kickstart my full fledge Keto diet plan. I have been doing Keto for a couple months but I have too many keto sweets so time to kick in 100%. My questions is can I have mayo as a fat and can it be light mayo? Can I use egg whites along with whole eggs or only whole eggs? Thanks for any help as I get started.

welcome! Congrats on starting the egg fast! There is a couple really informative posts on the website that answer a lot of questions.
The egg fast “consists of primarily eggs, cheese, and butter. For each egg you eat, you should eat a corresponding Tbsp of pure fat in the form of butter, olive oil, or coconut oil. You can also eat a corresponding Tbsp of full fat cheese per egg.”
As far as the actual eggs go, if I understand your question correctly…. “whole egg” is referring to both egg yolk and egg white! Hope that helps! Best wishes tomorrow!

How did it go?

Started the Egg Fast this morning with BPC while reading all the posts on this forum dating back to last summer. I love eggs so I don’t see that as a challenge. I am going to make a dozen hard boiled eggs in my Instant Pot after breakfast so I can make egg salad and deviled eggs. I have been doing LCHF for the last couple of years and had been at a healthy weight going into Fall of last year. Then mid-October went on vacation and ate and drank what I wanted and it’s been all downhill since, with a gain of almost 25 lbs. I still follow mostly low carb so it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs cooked in 2 T butter was great! Made the hard boiled eggs in the Instant Pot. That is the very best way to make hard boiled eggs. I made and peeled a dozen and no egg came off with the peel. Fast forward to lunch and I tried to make egg salad in the Magic Bullet – epic fail! The Magic Bullet wouldn’t move the eggs around so I ended up with pureed egg in the bottom and big pieces on top. So I had to go back to making it the old fashioned way – slicing and dicing the egg using an egg slicer. It tastes delicious though. Is anyone else currently doing the egg fast?

I started Keto on July 2nd 2018. So about 7 weeks ago. I had not lost one lb or 1 inch. I do enjoy this way of eating so I decided to continue as long as I did not gain, hoping that ketosis would kick in eventually. The other day I saw a link to this egg fast & decided to try it. I started on Monday, today is Friday. Yesterday I FINALLY kicked into ketosis – according to the test strips. Today I am down 4.8 lbs with one more day to go! I’m so hopeful and excited, but I am also terrified of what to eat after this fast is over. I do not want to gain this weight back. I’m praying that I continue to lose. I read the transition menu and I will def. do that for a few days. Would it be wise to go to the 3 day kick start after that? Or should I just go back to tracking my macros like before the fast and hope for the best? BTW – I still love eggs!
