Greetings, Peeps! I’m excited to finally bring you the Fall Recipes Issue of the IBIH low carb and gluten free e-zine!
[pinterest text=”IBIH Fall Recipes Ezine is out! Get your copy today! ” layout=”horizontal” image=”https://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/fallrecipescover.jpg”]
Loaded with Fall comfort food recipes for every occasion, these are some of my best low carb and gluten free recipes yet!
Since Fall is such a hectic time, I included 5 slow cooker recipes that you can set and forget. So by the time you get home from work and school, your house will smell amazing and dinner will be pretty much ready for you! For example, this Bacon & Cider Braised Chicken w/ Apples – hearty and comforting, after just a few quick minutes of prep time! Or maybe you want to fancy it up a bit with these Moroccan Spiced Lamb Shanks! This one tastes at least as good as it looks!
Same goes for the 7 low carb and gluten free soup recipes – they can all be made in just minutes, so that you aren’t slaving over the stove all night. But don’t tell anyone, because with these amazing flavors they’ll think you had them simmering all day long. Some of my favorites include this colorful Pumpkin Cardamom Soup,
…and this super easy, but incredibly flavorful and satisfying Portuguese Kale Soup!
Your meal wouldn’t be complete without some yummy side dishes or salads though – and IBIH has got you covered! One of my absolute favorite recipes from the entire e-zine is this Parsnip and Cauliflower Puree. It’s got just enough parsnip in it to flavor the entire dish with a hearty, starchy sweetness, but not enough to put it outside of your carb budget!
I don’t know about you, but one of the things I’ve really missed since going low carb is cornbread. Well I finally came up with a recipe that I think is super close to the real thing, but of course without the corn and carbs. You guys HAVE to try these Bacon Cheddar Cornless Muffins! They perfectly complement most of the soups, and even the slow cooker Smoky Chipotle Chili.
Healthy, delicious AND easy recipes- what more could you ask for…? How about some seriously decadent desserts??? Like that amazing Pumpkin Caramel Trifle on the cover! Or maybe you’re in the mood for this gorgeous Blueberry Crostada?
Topped with some addicting Cinnamon Ice Cream? Yes please!!!!
For this issue I tried to create low carb and gluten free recipes that you can use together to create complete meals. The Salads and Side Dishes complement the Crockpot Meals and Soups, so that you can mix and match them.
The desserts can also work together – like the Cinnamon Ice Cream served with the Blueberry Crostada or Apple Tart, or even made into ice cream sandwiches using the Maple Walnut Shortbread Cookies.
I even showed some of them photographed together, and put notes at the bottom of some recipes with suggestions for what to serve with what where appropriate. Like this Smoky Chipotle Chili shown with the Bacon Cheddar Corn-less Muffins. Not that you needed me to tell you that they would taste awesome together – and they totally do!
Other features include the table of contents with links to the recipes Also, there is a TOC link at the bottom of each page to take you back to the table of contents with a single click. In the pantry/glossary section you will find descriptions and sources for ingredients found in the recipes. Finally, the nutrition information can be found at the bottom of each recipe page.
So there you have it, Peeps! If you purchase this issue of the IBIH Fall Recipes ezine, I hope you’ll leave your feedback in the comments! I’ll happily use it to improve future issues, which will include articles and other fun things in addition to just recipes. It’s a constant work in progress, so I’m interested in what you would like to see included going forward.

WOW! I must try purchasing this one.

I agree with Pat that the formatting was better on the summer edition. Not a deal breaker or anything, just an observation. I did compare both on an iPad.
The recipes do look scrumptious and I am looking forward to trying them. I just have to try the cornless muffin, as we are into soup these days and it’s one of those dishes where you do miss a “bready” side.

Thanks so much for the feedback, I’ll take it into consideration when I put the winter ezine together in a few weeks! The muffins are awesome if I do say so! hope you like them! :)

It won`t let me put in my post code in Australia. Seeing it is an electronic book it should not really matter. I will try again later on another machine, see how that goes.
Thank you

I like the idea of raisins so I’ll put them in. Tried the corn less muffins last night. Big hit!! Next will be the pumpkin caramel trifle. Thanks so much for these recipes.
Mellissa Sevigny says
Thank YOU Patricia! I appreciate you purchasing the e-zine, and taking time to comment! Glad you liked the cornless muffins! I LOVE them with soups and chili’s to make it feel more like a complete meal – also delicious with breakfast! Going to make a big batch and freeze them soon so I always have some on hand! :)

I just purchased the fall ezine and am looking forward to trying the recipes. In the lamb recipe it talks about adding raisins but the amt is not suggested in the recipe. Help
Mellissa Sevigny says
Thanks for catching that Patricia! When I was calculating the carbs for the recipe I decided to omit the 2 Tbsp of raisins (and increased the sweetener to compensate) to keep the carbs reasonable. You can add them back though if you want to. I had already typed the recipes in another document days earlier and though I omitted the raisins from the ingredient list, I forgot to delete them from the instructions. I’ll fix that and upload a new version to E-junkie tomorrow, thanks again!!!

I was attempting to buy both of the products, but the site will only let me make 2 separate purchases…
Do you have a work around?
Mellissa Sevigny says
I’m not sure how to do that, I would think if you go to each page and hit add to cart, then hit view cart, that both would show up at that point, but I’m really not sure. I’ll have to look into it and see if there is a way! Thanks for letting me know, sorry for the inconvenience!

Help! I bot the eZine, and tried to download it, but when I tried to open it, I got an error message that said it was unable to open the file because of a “bad encrypt dictionary”. I tried downloading it again, and had the same problem. Please advise.
Mellissa Sevigny says
Hi Eric, I haven’t heard that before so I’m not sure what happened with your download! Very sorry for the inconvenience though and I’ve forwarded the file to your email address. Please let me know that you received it and were able to download it – thanks!!! :)
Eric says
Thanks for sending me the file directly. Turns out that the problem was my version of Adobe was too old to open the file, but once I updated to a new version, it opened right up. The recipes look great – there are several I want to try right away, and lots to try in the near future. I’m hosting, and it looks like it may be an IBIH Thanksgiving… complete with an apple tart??!! Be still my heart! Or Pumpkin Caramel trifle? Do I have to choose? Congrats on a terrific offering.
Mellissa Sevigny says
Thanks so much Eric, I’m glad you were finally able to open the file! Trying to choose between the apple tart and the pumpkin caramel trifle is impossible even for me – I say make both! :)
Ami says
I made the pumpking caramel trifle this past weekend. Definitely make it. I will say though, the SF caramel topping turns an unappetizing greyish color after it sits in the refrigerator for a while. I would skip the top layer and drizzle it over individual pieces when I’m serving it next time. I just added more to everyone’s portion, so it wasn’t too big of a deal. The mousse alone is so delicious, you can even skip the cake altogether!
Mellissa Sevigny says
Glad you guys enjoyed it! Mine was in the fridge for 2 days and the color never changed, so not sure if you just had a bad batch or used a different brand than me – glad it still tasted ok though! Thanks for letting me know you tried it and liked it! And yes, that mousse is delicious all on it’s own too! :)
Pat says
I just purchased/downloaded the newest ezine fall book and I can tell you right off the bat, the formatting is nothing like the Spring Issue! Orientation is Landscape vs. Portrait. The cover has tons of white space on its page. Not consistent or up to the formatting standard of the first book.
:(
Mellissa Sevigny says
I respectfully disagree Pat. I think the formatting of this version is much better than the first – and it’s perfectly sized to be viewed on an ipad, as well as in pdf format. If you don’t mind my asking what are you using to view it, and are you having any issues with the page not fitting on the screen, etc.? If you are unhappy with your purchase I’m happy to refund your money. Thank you for the feedback.
Pat says
Not at all unhappy with the purchase and now that you have provided logic behind the new formatting, that makes perfect sense. I typically view on my laptop but also via my Kindle HD. I’m sure it will be fine, if not better. Pardon the hasty remarks – appears my immediate reaction wasn’t well thought out.
Mellissa Sevigny says
Thanks for clarifying Pat, I’m happy to hear that you aren’t unhappy overall – and I do appreciate the feedback! I want to make sure I’m putting the best possible product out there and I can’t do that if people aren’t honest, so thank you. I’m hoping to have this for sale on itunes soon and the ipad formatting was key for that which is why I had to switch the layout from the first issue. Hope you enjoy the recipes! :)
