If you’re doing the Squeaky Clean Keto Challenge with us this month, then you’re likely looking for breakfast recipes that are easy, SCKC compliant, and portable if you’re on the go. This Keto Sausage Frittata is alllll of those things – not to mention really, really delicious!
When eating keto so many people rely heavily on cheese as a crutch to add flavor and fat to their recipes – and it’s totally understandable because we all love cheese! During the 30 day Squeaky Clean Keto Challenge though, all dairy products are off limits, so you might think your food will be sad and bland and boring without it.
I’m here to tell you though, that nothing could be further from the truth – and this amazing Keto Sausage Frittata is the perfect example. Loaded with flavorful Italian sausage, sun-dried tomatoes (they add a hint of sweetness,) capers, and chopped fresh basil, this is my go-to breakfast this month!
In fact, I was super excited to find an extra bag of portions in my freezer behind an ice tray the other day that I forgot I had in there – which meant 4 more days of SCKC breakfast already prepared and ready for my week! ??
Once you taste it you’ll understand why I was so egg-cited! (sorry, couldn’t help myself ?)
Even if you aren’t on the SCKC, you’re going to love this easy keto sausage frittata – and if dairy is no problem for you, then adding some Parmesan, Asiago, or even mozzarella cheese in there will make it even tastier!

Keto Sausage Frittata – SCKC, Whole 30
- Total Time: 37 minutes
- Yield: 8 servings 1x
Description
This easy keto sausage frittata is easy and delicious, and can be frozen and reheated for SCKC compliant breakfasts at the ready all month long! Dairy free, Paleo, Whole 30
Ingredients
- 16 ounces Italian sausage (I used hot)
- 2 tablespoons capers, drained
- 1/4 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes
- 8 large eggs
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil, plus more for garnish if desired
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cook the sausage in a 10-inch oven proof skillet (see notes) over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring to break into small pieces.
- Add the capers and sun-dried tomatoes, cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Beat the eggs, water, salt, pepper and basil together in a large bowl.
- Pour the egg mixture over the sausage mixture.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until firm.
- Remove and cool slightly before cutting and serving with additional chopped basil if desired.
Notes
If you don’t have an oven proof skillet, you can cook the sausage, capers and tomatoes in a regular skillet and then add them to an oven proof baking dish along with the egg mixture – and then bake as directed.

I cannot eat tomatoes or peppers or all the hot sauce and salsa that is in so many recipes lately. My sensitivities are related to the natural form of aspirin (salicylic acid) in these foods.
I managed to get onto KETO and stay for a little over a year, losing 130 pounds, going down from 5x to 2x in tops, 32WTall to 20WT in pants. I know that it works for me.
I goofed and had commercial cheesecake for my birthday and couldn’t get back onto KETO again. I ended up moving too, and my income went down.
Now I am trying to get started again. I used the 5 Day Soup Diet before.
My new doctor wants me to go to a Plant Based Diet but it is the opposite of Keto Low Carb and I don’t want to gain back what I lost. I still have about 80 pounds to lose.
One good thing about the time away from KETO has been that my skin has had a chance to shrink some. I still have areas that have hanging skin, but it is less than at first and I have still kept the muscle underneath it.
So I’m looking at your recipes for ideas, but find meal plans unworkable due to my food sensitivities.
Besides the tomatoes and peppers, they include several fruits, a few other veggies and almonds in all forms.
I know that I can get through the 5 days, but 30 is not workable. Regular KETO allows nuts and cheese along with the eggs and meat, and cheese and nuts are a main source of low cost protein for me because I only eat a small amount!
And I miss summer salads with the 5 Day Soup Diet!

Delicious and easy! We did use hot Italian sausage, added a jalapeño pepper, a handful of spinach and parmesan cheese. It was delicious the way it was but we add hot sauce to almost everything and it tasted even better😉

This was really tasty and easy to make. The only issue I had was that it was entirely too salty for my taste, so I gave it away to coworkers. Next time I make it I’m going to leave out the kosher salt altogether. I think the Italian sausage and eggs have enough sodium on their own for me.

This dish is SO GOOD. We make this at least once every few weeks. It is wonderful as written, but sometimes we use sun dried tomatoes with herbs added which takes it up a notch. Trust me– you won’t miss the dairy! Highly recommend!!

I love this recipe! It was always one of my go to recipes when hitting keto hard core. However. I just found out I have developed a egg and milk allergy at the wonderful age of 31😩. Who even knew that was possible?!?!?
Do you think that I could substitute Justegg (the vegan egg) and almond milk based heavy cream?
Thank you in advance for any advise!

I love the sound of this. I would just have to make it small. No one else in my home would eat it. Bet you could also swap the sausage for bacon too!
KdonnRN says
Bet you could freeze single serving portions.
