This keto pizza crust is an older low carb pizza crust recipe that I had gotten rid of because Fathead Dough became so popular. I recently brought it back due to popular demand and lots of requests from readers who have been looking for it again. It’s got 29g protein per serving, and is gluten free.

UPDATE: When I wrote this keto pizza crust post and was dealing with these allergies back in South Carolina, I had an undiagnosed condition called MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) which was causing my reactions to a lot of foods and other triggers. I still have it, but after leaving SC and the many chemicals used in farming near where we lived, as well as the high pollen counts of a few plants I’m allergic to, I now have my symptoms under control.
I’ve come to realize in the last week that I have been in a toxic relationship. I had a feeling that I needed to end it, but I was in denial for months. The other night was the straw that broke the camel’s back. It was a difficult break-up, but I have to do what’s best for me in the long run so I ended it. It’s a real comfort to know that I’ll have the support of my peeps during this difficult time. Goodbye flax, it was fun while it lasted…
Unfortunately it’s true, flax and I are done for good. I made this delicious keto pizza crust the other night and couldn’t wait to share it with you guys. It was so yummy that I ate 2 small pieces cold the next morning – and that’s when it happened. I started having the allergy symptoms that I was experiencing this spring and it freaked me out. Heart palpitations, tingling throat and lips, etc.

I had long realized that stevia products, and at this point pretty much all artificial sweeteners, were giving me a reaction. The other day I realized that flax, which I haven’t eaten in awhile was also present in almost every instance that ended me up in the ER.
I love using flax because it’s loaded with Omega 3’s and basically zero carb, but obviously I can’t risk my health over it. Ironically, this low carb pizza crust recipe was an attempt to reduce the amount of flax in my original flax and parmesan pizza crust to improve the flavor and texture. Now I’ll be working on a keto pizza crust that omits the flax altogether.
Update 2: This is my flax free easy keto dough recipe that I use to make low carb pizza now when I’m on keto.
But in the meantime, just because I won’t be eating this keto pizza crust doesn’t mean you can’t! It was pretty awesome tasting if I do say so – and so easy to make!Â
The carbs are higher than the original low carb flax pizza crust, but I think the flavor and texture is much better. This recipe makes one 10″ pie which is more than enough for two people as it’s very dense and filling. This keto pizza is topped with sauce, spinach, italian sausage, and a four cheese blend.Â
It was simple but really good – even the next morning!Â

Made this yesterday and we loved it! I found the dough a bit dry and crumbly at first so I added an extra egg and it came together beautifully. We’ll definitely be making this again. Thanks!

I just made this and absolutely love it. Didn’t roll it out well enough, so the middle was a bit thick. I just discovered your site last week and thanks to you my low carb life style will never be boring again. Unbelievable how creative you are !!!
Thank you

Hi there, I’m sure you didn’t mean any harm, but please don’t joke about abusive relationships. Not only can it be extremely triggering and unpleasant to read, but it trivialises a life threatening reality for thousands of people world wide. Thanks.
Cindy says
While I do understand and appreciate comment, absolutly nothing that was said in the introduction indicated an ‘abusive’ relationship. A toxic relationship can be any person or thing in your life that is not healhty for you. Before I started eat well, I had a very toxic relationship with sugar. Had a continued down that path I would certainly have ended up diabetic or worse.

Thanks for this recipe. I’m going to try it today.
So many of the allergy issues brought up can
be traced back to issues in ones gut. For anyone
who cares to do more research and possible find
some answers, try reading Gut and Psychology Syndrome
(Campbell-McBride) where allergies are also addressed.
There is a diet in this book that can actually heal
your gut which will free you from your allergies.
There are answers here you won’t find in your typical
doctor’s office backed by many years of research and
success. Happy Reading!

I am very interested in your comment. I have severe sensitivities to many foods, and I am now seeing them in my son.
I am at wits end with our diet, and I am looking any where to find a better solution. I like the idea of healing the gut, and i would love to hear more from you. I am about to order McBrides book, but would like to ask a few questions of you if you have the time.

thank you so much for this recipe! I LOVE pizza, but have recently gone low carb, and have been struggling. I am going to try this with the coconut flour. Do you use commercially sold coconut flour, or grind your own? I am told there is a difference.
Mellissa Sevigny says
I buy it jan because it has been defatted which helps it act more like normal flour. My favorite brand right now is sold by nuts.com, which I also for my almond flour and xanthan gum, unsweetened coconut, etc. There is a link in the sidebar that should take you right to it if you want to check them out. Their shipping is blazing fast too which I love! Enjoy!

I make a pizza crust without flax. It is a cauliflower base, with blanched almond flour, egg, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, a little garlic. The crust stays together when you cut it. Very good.

Hi, this recipe looks so amazing, love your website! Just wondering what i can use instead of parmesan cheese, as it is not halal/vegetarian and I can’t seem to find any vegetarian options where i live. Or can I just leave it out. Thanks a bunch! :)
Mellissa Sevigny says
The cheese acts like a binder, but if you omit it and use some kind of vegetarian egg replacement, it might work. I haven’t experimented with that yet so I don’t have any suggestions on how much. Hope you can make it work!

This looks kinda nasty

To each his own – I enjoyed it!
